Audiologists are educated and trained to be the experts in identifying, treating and preventing hearing loss. They are trained to provide both the clinical expertise and the counseling aspect of hearing healthcare. During the hearing evaluation, the Audiologist will conduct several tests to identify whether a hearing loss may be treated medically or with the use of amplification.
They are able to evaluate how much hearing loss has occurred and may even be able to identify the cause and advise as to how to avoid further hearing loss. The Doctoral Audiologist is not only an expert in hearing, but also has been trained to test and treat tinnitus and balance disorders as well.
